The Sweaters of Murder, She Wrote Episode: 11.20

I've decided to do a series of posts on the sweaters of Murder, She Wrote. I've watched every episode at least once over the years, and there are some fantastic sweaters in this show! Some you can find a similar pattern for, so if I can I will share it. Please note I am not very good at capturing all the sweaters just yet, so the picture quality is not going to be great.

I had the idea for this while watching season 11, episode 20 "Another killing in Cork". So we will start there.

Each post will give a spoiler-free synopsis of the episode, followed by a short review, and then sweaters!

In this episode, we see Jessica traveling to Cork to visit some old friends. She stays in their big castle-like Bed and Breakfast with a host of "queer" characters (I use the words that are used in the show itself). Turns out there's a land dispute the landlord is involved in. People end up dead, of course, since this is a murder show, after all. In true Jessica Fletcher fashion, she finds the clues and helps the local constabulary find the culprit.

I would say this one is Murder, She Wrote at it's finest. The plot is simple, the side characters fairly interesting, and the clues relatively straight forward. It wouldn't be Murder, She Wrote without a little predictability, right? The biggest issue is the accents. Irish accents on this show are notoriously terrible. Overall, I'd give it a 7/10.

On to sweaters. Being set in Ireland in the fall, we have quite a few good ones.

Let's start with the dashing young man who is the main actor in the romantic subplot:

He is wearing one of the many oatmeal colored sweaters this episode. Pretty much everyone wears something like this at least once, so I'm only including his because he carries it off the best.

The queen of sweaters in this episode is the Landlady of the hotel, Kate, where Jessica is staying. She also happens to be a good friend of Jessica's. Kate has a couple long pullovers, and quite a few lacy cardigans. I would love to recreate one or two of them if I ever get the time. I only could get halfway decent pictures of 3 of them, so I am sharing them here:

I did say that the quality of the pictures won't be great. I'm working on that, but for now this is what I have.

Finally, we end it all, with a couple of men's sweaters grabbed randomly. A little bit of texture and color to make things interesting

Making it work

It's been a while, hasn't it? It's been a very stressful few weeks! First my birthday, which was not stressful, but rather busy. I made a complex dessert and a curry. I had a couple friends over for dinner, games, and cocktails. It was amazing. One got me some really nice Irish yarn! Birthday cake, knife included A little drunk chilling on the couch Then at the last minute the Guatemalan government decided we could teach in person when the city was on Red, which it couldn't do before. We found out at 5:00pm the night before (and the day after my birthday 😭). I adapted and managed to get to work with only a little annoyance. But on Tuesday, after being back only two days, I was forced to quarantine because two of my students tested positive. Then a parent did. Then another parent. So, a week of stress over if I was infected, because I HAD been exposed...We came back Wednesday, with parents of COVID positive children angry they had to wait a week, because of...

Whiskers on kittens

I've been busy, busy the past couple weeks! I realized I had a stricter time limit on a couple knit things than I thought, so decided to put the tree skirt on hold. It will be done by Christmas, yes, but I'm taking a break. I foolishly told a group of students at my school that I would make them a surprise. The surprise was knitted Christmas trees. They didn't take me long, but they were something else I had to do. Then I have Christmas stockings. I have a strict timeline, which turns out is about 2 weeks, to finish several Christmas stockings (4 now, I think). I've made 2. I take on too much at Christmas. Anyway, I'm leaving for a trip on Friday, and will be able to knit some while away. Not much, though. Here's what I have done so far:     And I would have done more, but I've been visiting my friend's kitten. He's a darling little thing but he won't let me knit.
